Creating a Meeting Hub in the Heart of the St. George Campus

Final CAD submission of our redesign, created entirely on ROBLOX by myself
APS111, ESPI, focuses on developing key engineering problem defining, and solving skills. In 2022, students were asked to redesign the Sidney Smith Building's East-Facing Fascade to be more accessible, flexible, and welcoming.
Due to unfortunate circumstances, early on, our team of 6 was reduced to 4 team members. I led a significant redistribution of work, team roles, and organization. I immediately took charge as Project Manager to ensure that this initial turbulence had as little of an effect as possible on future deliverables and work.
These efforts were successful overall. All deliverable deadlines were met, with no trade-off in quality, at least partially due in part to my leadership of the team.
Based on peer feedback, I excelled in all aspects of the project, including commitment, capabilities, communication, focus and standards, receiving an average of 4.7 on a scale from 1-5 in all of these categories. From this feedback, however, I learned to not become fixated on one idea or topic and to expand my horizons a bit further.
Based on this advice, I took action and worked on various aspects of the project, taking on tasks including the CAD work for our final submission. I was unfamiliar with any professional CAD software, leading me to choose a more straightforward, beginner-friendly software, ROBLOX Studio to do this rough work. I taught myself how to use the software and ended up with a relatively solid model: the first of many I will be doing as part of my engineering program.
Looking back, I realize how far I have come in terms of CAD skills and experience. Although my first works were quite rough, I have improved exponentially over the past 12 months, as seen by my latest work in MIE243.

An initial candidate model of one of our top designs. Ultimately, a different path was taken, but this model did help us visualize our ideas and make a more informed design decision.
